As I do many sites for small business, where budget is often a major consideration, I try to keep a simplified pricing structure, by offering an all-inclusive price per page of web design, so you know the cost implications in advance. It is also true to say that many projects simply won't fit into the constraints of this structure, but a discussion over requirements can quickly ascertain a more representative price for you.

As a starting guideline, I offer the first page of a site at £180.00, with subsequent pages at £120.00 each. The first page takes much longer, as the functionality, navigation structure and style sheets are established and form the 'template' for the rest of the site. Subsequent pages, once you've approved the design, are faster to produce and this is reflected in the price.

The design of a site is all-inclusive, including the production of the HTML files, style sheets, graphics and images and search engine optimisation and submission. If what you need falls outside of the basic structure, you would be advised accordingly at the outset and will know what you'll have to pay before work starts. A 30% deposit is required before work commences and full terms to outline both Spread the World and the client's responsibilities are supplied with the deposit invoice, so you can study them before commencing.

• Subsequent web pages = £120.00 each
• Web hosting, using external suppliers, from £60.00 per anum
• Domain names, if bought separately, from £30.00
• Hourly rate for updates, maintenance, retouching or graphics work = £40.00

A modest amount of 'studio' product photography can be incorporated into the basic site design outlined above, but location work would be charged extra and any expenses incurred would be chargeable.
